MEXICAN MANDALA: A MULTICOLORED EVENING PRAYER EXPERIENCE WITH MARLENE EHRENBERG FESTIVAL OF THE ASUMPTION IN HUAMANTLA, TLAXCALA Departure from Mexico City: Bus leaves the Auditorio Nacional at 2:30 p.m. and goes directly to Huamantla. Residents of every neighborhood in the city of Huamantla lovingly prepare colorful flower and sawdust mosaic carpets on the Virgin’s procession pathways. Our three-hour tour through the decorated streets of Huamantla will seem like we’ve entered a kaleidoscope with the presence of dancers and musicians in the church atrium and the colorful “prayer rugs.” We will eat delicious Mexican food from informal eateries installed for this occasion. Our chartered bus
departs Huamantla about 9 p.m. with an 11:30 p.m. estimated time of arrival
at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City. |
